How to Check Your Equinox Gift Card Balance
If you have an Equinox gift card and want to know how much money is left on it, the official balance-check process is straightforward.
Equinox’s current gift card terms state that you can obtain your balance by presenting your Equinox Gift Card at any Equinox Fitness Club.
This is important because many websites suggest using an online gift-card balance checker, but Equinox’s current public terms do not list a separate online balance-check page for standard Equinox gift cards.

The official Equinox gift card terms give one clear method for checking the dollar value remaining on a standard gift card.
-
Locate your Equinox Gift Card.
This may be a physical card purchased at an Equinox location or an electronic gift card received by email. -
Visit an Equinox Fitness Club.
Equinox says the card balance can be obtained at any Equinox Fitness Club. -
Present the gift card.
Show the card or available gift-card information to the Front Desk. -
Ask for the current balance.
The club can check the remaining dollar value associated with the card. -
Keep the card after checking.
If money remains, keep the card details secure for future purchases.
Present your Equinox Gift Card at an Equinox Fitness Club and request the current balance.
Can You Check an Equinox Gift Card Balance Online?
Equinox’s current public gift card terms do not provide a standalone online balance-check tool.
The official terms specifically state that the balance can be obtained by presenting the gift card at an Equinox Fitness Club.
If you can’t visit a club and have a question about the card, you can also contact Equinox Concierge for help.
Can I Check My Equinox Gift Card Balance in the EQX+ App?
The answer depends on what type of card or reward you have.
Equinox says promotional rewards from referral or joining offers can appear inside the EQX+ app under:
This is different from Equinox’s official balance instructions for a regular purchased gift card.
For a standard purchased Equinox Gift Card, the official gift-card terms say to present the card at an Equinox Fitness Club to obtain the balance.
Where Can I Find My Equinox Gift Card?
Equinox says the location of the card depends on how it was issued.
| Gift Card Type | Where to Find It |
|---|---|
| Electronic Gift Card | Check the email sent to you with the gift-card redemption instructions. |
| Physical Gift Card | You receive the physical card when it is purchased in person. |
| Referral Reward | Open the EQX+ app and go to Gift Cards and Rewards. |
| Joining or Promotional Reward | It may appear in the Gift Cards and Rewards section of your EQX+ account. |
If you received a digital gift card, search your email inbox for messages from Equinox before assuming the card is missing.
Where Can You Use an Equinox Gift Card?
Equinox’s official terms say a general Equinox Gift Card can be used to purchase eligible merchandise and pay for eligible services at participating Equinox locations.
Equinox’s current FAQ specifically lists uses such as:
- Personal Training
- Pilates
- Spa services
- The Shop purchases in person
- The Shop purchases online, subject to the online redemption process
Equinox’s terms state that gift cards can be used at Equinox Fitness Clubs, The Spa and The Shop, while cafes are excluded.
Personal Training
Use an eligible general Equinox Gift Card toward qualifying Personal Training purchases.
Pilates & Spa
Gift cards may be used toward eligible Pilates and Spa services.
The Shop
Use your card for eligible merchandise in person, with special rules applying to online use.
Can You Use an Equinox Gift Card for Membership Dues?
Equinox’s standard gift-card terms refer to eligible merchandise and services, while its promotional-card terms specifically state that promotional cards cannot be used to pay membership dues.
If you’re planning to use a purchased gift card for a membership-related charge, confirm eligibility with your club before relying on the card for that payment.
How to Use an Equinox Gift Card at The Shop Online
Equinox also allows eligible gift cards to be used on The Shop at Equinox online, but there are special rules.
According to Equinox’s current Shop information, online redemption requires:
- The full Equinox Gift Card number
- The Equinox Member ID of the gift card’s original systemic owner
These details are entered during online checkout.
That means you should think carefully before converting or applying the card for online Shop purchases.
After this happens, the remaining balance generally can’t be switched back for normal in-club use.
Why Is My Equinox Gift Card Not Working Online?
A few common issues can cause problems at The Shop online.
- The full gift card number wasn’t entered correctly.
- The original systemic owner’s Equinox Member ID wasn’t entered correctly.
- The card has not met the requirements for online use.
- The card or Shop Credit may need Equinox assistance.
Equinox says customers who receive an error may need to submit its gift-card conversion request form.
Equinox also states that it won’t convert a gift card for anyone other than the systemic owner.
Do Equinox Gift Cards Expire?
A standard purchased Equinox Gift Card does not expire under the current Equinox terms.
Equinox also says purchased gift cards have:
- No expiration date
- No service charges
- No dormancy fees
Expiration: None
Service charge: None
Dormancy fee: None
This means you don’t have to rush to spend a standard purchased gift card simply because it has been sitting unused for several months.
Purchased Gift Card vs Promotional Equinox Card
This distinction is extremely important because the expiration rules are different.
| Card Type | Expiration | Transferability / Special Rules |
|---|---|---|
| Purchased Equinox Gift Card | No expiration date | Subject to standard Equinox Gift Card terms. |
| Promotional Card | Generally 90 days after issuance unless another expiration date is printed on the card. | Different promotional terms apply. |
| Referral Reward | Must currently be used within 90 days of issuance. | Equinox says referral rewards are non-transferable. |
How Do I Check a Promotional Equinox Card Balance?
Equinox’s terms give the same basic balance-check method for a Promotional Card: present the card at an Equinox Fitness Club.
If the promotional value came through your membership account, you may also be able to see the reward under Gift Cards and Rewards in the EQX+ app.
Check the expiration date at the same time because promotional cards typically don’t have the same no-expiration protection as purchased cards.
What Happens If You Lose an Equinox Gift Card?
Equinox tells customers to protect gift cards as they would cash.
Under Equinox’s current terms, the company and gift-card issuer generally aren’t responsible for replacing an Equinox Gift Card that is:
- Lost
- Stolen
- Damaged
- Destroyed
This rule applies except where applicable law requires otherwise.
What If My Equinox Gift Card Is Not Functional?
Equinox’s gift card terms distinguish a non-functional card from a lost or stolen card.
If an Equinox Gift Card is not functional, Equinox states that the remedy is replacement of the gift card at its then-current value, subject to the applicable terms.
If your card appears to have a balance but isn’t working, contact Equinox rather than discarding it.
Can You Redeem an Equinox Gift Card for Cash?
Normally, no.
Equinox states that Gift Cards aren’t redeemable for cash except where applicable law requires cash redemption.
Promotional Cards are not redeemable for cash under Equinox’s promotional-card terms.
Can You Transfer an Equinox Gift Card?
Purchased gift cards and promotional rewards shouldn’t automatically be treated the same way.
Equinox explicitly states that referral rewards are non-transferable.
For any gift card linked to a specific member or being used online, the ownership rules are especially important because The Shop’s online checkout requires the Member ID of the card’s original systemic owner.
Can I Return an Equinox Gift Card?
Equinox’s Gift Card terms state that gift cards may not be returned or resold.
The Shop’s current return policy also lists gift cards and promotional gift cards among items that aren’t eligible for return.
How to Buy an Equinox Gift Card
Equinox currently gives members two main ways to purchase a general gift card.

Equinox instead directs customers to purchase general gift cards through Equinox’s own gift-card options or at a club.

For the most reliable balance check, take the card to an Equinox Fitness Club and ask the Front Desk for the current value.
If you’re planning to use the card at The Shop online, read the online redemption rules before applying it. Doing so can permanently restrict the remaining balance to online Shop purchases.
